One of the big surprise movie hits of 2014 (or the last decade, for that matter) was The Lego Movie. As with any mega-successful film, there is inevitably a sequel. While the full-length The Lego Movie Sequel isn’t scheduled to hit cinemas until the spring of 2018, the Legoland theme park will offer something special to keep Lego Movie aficionados happy until then. On Feb. 6, the Los Angeles attraction will premiere The Lego Movie 4D A New Adventure.
This short film picks up where The Lego Movie left off for characters Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, MetalBeard and Benny, with the fivesome reuniting at the invitation of a new character, the scheming Risky Business. You won’t find spoilers here, but we can tell you that cool 4D special effects including wind, water and fog will bring the audience closer to the action.
The featurette, which will screen multiple times each day at Legoland, was made with the creative help of The Lego Movie filmmakers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, along with the sequel’s director, Rob Schrab. Lego Movie fans also should know that there are two other full-length Lego theatrical films in the works – one involving Batman and one based on Ninjago Lego game. Both have 2017 release dates.
