Berlitz Summer Camp

$11.99, The Hornblow Group/MegaForce Records
There is something quintessentially Los Angeles about the group Ozomatli. This multicultural band blends together a colorful array of musical styles to create their sound. For the past few years, Ozomatli also has been playing family shows under the name OzoKids.
It isn’t surprising that these guys would have family music in them, since most of them are fathers. It also isn’t surprising that their family music retains Ozomatli’s lively mash-up of musical sounds.
“Moose On The Loose” is a horn-fueled twangy rap, while “Germs” is one of several tunes that groove on a ska/reggae beat. “Exercise,” stands out as, naturally, an energetic number as is the rocker “Skateboard.” While they take on some education topics (trees, water and spelling), they do so in a fun, rhythm-happy way that will connect with kids. And parents will enjoy the wonderfully spirited arrangements. A winner all around.

Chocolalala, Mister G, $15, mistergmusic.com
Mister G’s years of traveling around Latin America are evident on this winning bilingual disc populated with tunes “en Español” about colors, dances and nature. The title track is a particularly sweet song and “Uno dos tres” nicely teaches kids how to count in Spanish. Having lyrics for these songs might have been a helpful addition, but there is much to enjoy here.
Love Is A Superpower, Ben Rudnick & Friends, $14.95, benrudnick.com
With this disc, the prolific Rudnick marks his 10th release since his first in 2000. On the triumphant Love, Rudnick and his musical associates swing between a variety of styles – from rock to soul to Texas Swing. The diverse 11 originals are accompanied by a memorable pair of covers: the twangy traditional “Jenny Jenkins” and a lovely rendition of George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Sun.”
Kepi For Kids, Kepi Ghoulie, $10, Fun Fun Records
Although his name is Kepi Ghoulie and he led the pop-punk band the Groovie Ghoulies, this album is more cheery than scary. One of the best numbers on this delightfully entertaining disc is the clever counting ode to the Ramones, “Dee Dee Taught Me How To Count.”

CD Review: Sing-a-Ling With Friends From “Pop Goes The Weasel” to “Old McDonald Had A Farm," this may not appear like the most exciting set of tunes, but Dan Crow brings a freshness to his renditions of these family favorites. |

Movie Review: Arthur And The Invisibles 2&3: The New Minomoys Adventures These films are follow-ups to the not well-known 2007 Arthur and the Invisibles. Like the original movie, these sequels are directed by French filmmaker Luc Besson. |
