Wayne Brady
$10.90, Walt Disney Records
Wayne Brady is a multi-talented performer – an actor, comedian, impressionist, talk show host and singer (just to name five of his skills). Radio Wayne marks Brady’s kids’ music debut and it’s an impressive effort. At the beginning of the disc, which he loosely structures like a pretend radio show, Brady says he will make you dance, think and go “wow,” and he’s telling the truth.
The music is a lively mix of energetic songs that are easy to move and groove to. Songs like the James Brown-styled “Say Please” and the B-52’s-ish “Monster In My Closet” stand out as particularly memorable. As these songs exemplify, Brady has a nice way of taking a familiar style and turning it into his own kid-friendly tune. Even when he covers “Talk To The Animals,” from Dr. Doolittle, he injects some original “animal rapping” to give it a fresh twist. He also is able to slip in teaching points (about reading, sharing, nutrition, etc.) while keeping the mood light and cheerful.
Brady broadcasts a winning mix of kids music on Radio Wayne.

Movie Review: Arthur And The Invisibles 2&3: The New Minomoys Adventures These films are follow-ups to the not well-known 2007 Arthur and the Invisibles. Like the original movie, these sequels are directed by French filmmaker Luc Besson. |
