“Winnie the Pooh;” Disney; All Ages; 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack 44.99; 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD) $39.99; 1-Disc DVD $29.99; Disney.com/WinnieThePooh
Oh bother. Eeyore has once again lost his tail and the quest to find it continues in Disney’s all new, “Winnie the Pooh,” now available on 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack, 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD. The characters that we grew up with, and that our children now adore, invite us back to the Hundred Acre Wood, where honey pots are plentiful and true friendship perseveres. The film is narrated by John Cleese and features the voice talent of Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson, Tom Kenny, Bud Luckey, Travis Oates, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Los Angeles TV personality, Huell Howser. The child actors, Wyatt Hall as Roo and Jack Boulter as Christopher Robin do an outstanding job and add to the special innocence of the film. I was delighted to hear a couple songs from actor and musician, Zooey Deschanel, whose smooth as silk vocal style is the perfect fit for this new, yet classic, Pooh adventure.
The bonus features are equally entertaining with shorts, a behind-the-scenes making of the film, deleted scenes, a Sing-along and more. The short, “The Ballad of Nessie,” is an endearing tale of how the legendary Nessie found her home in Loch Ness and it truly a bonus gem on the disc.
“Winnie the Pooh” is rated G and runs approximately 60 minutes.
