Get ready to put pencil, pen or crayon to paper because Big Draw LA is coming to town. Organized by local nonprofit Ryman Arts, the event celebrates the simple joy of drawing a picture and promotes inclusiveness through the diversity of its projects and participants.
There will be related events around Southern California throughout October. The signature event, “Make Your Mark in the Park,” will take place Oct. 8 in Grand Park. This colorful day-long art party presents a range of creative projects for the public, with free admission – and art supplies.
Other highlights include the all-ages, drop-in monster-drawing workshop led by illustrator and YouTube artist Mary Doodles at 11 a.m. the first three Saturdays of the month at the Getty Villa. LACMA’s Family Sunday art projects, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. each week, will also be related to Big Draw. At a Sunny Tales class at 3 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Pasadena Museum of History, preschoolers (and an accompanying adult) can hear stories about art and artists and collaborate on a large Big Draw LA poster.
One more great thing about this celebration of art is that anyone can organize a project. Learn more about how to create a Big Draw LA event, or how to attend one, by visiting www.thebigdrawla.org.
