On Aug. 16, more than 1,000 backpacks were stuffed with supplies for local homeless children living in poverty and in shelters. This was another fun community event hosted by the charitable organization Hike It Up (www.hikeitup.org), a Studio City-based nonprofit that seeks to create change in our community. The event brought everybody out on Sunday and made it so easy to help.
Kids were welcomed to help as well, or could just play, as the event took place at InPlayLA, North Hollywood’s new indoor playground at 5016 Lankershim Blvd. It was great fun to sort through school supplies, personalize a bag, and to make sure that a child will have great start to the new school year.
In the past few years, the Hike-It-Up charity has helped thousands of children with school supplies, encouraging healthy and productive habits in school. It is not too late to help. A donation of even $10 will help provide a backpack with supplies to a homeless child. You can sponsor as many children as you wish.
