Meet Our Shooting Stars Photographers

One of the great things about the L.A. Parent Shooting Stars Cover Kids Contest is that it gives children from all over L.A. the chance to be photographed by some of the best photographers in the area. These are the people who make the images that grace the cover of the magazine, and who photograph events, celebrities and families throughout the region.

Here is a bit of information on the four photographers who will be on hand at Shooting Stars 2015, which will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 27 at The Original Farmers Market.

Jodye Alcon ( Jodye’s love for photography started at the tender age of 8 when on a vacation, her father’s camera was stolen and she quickly became the family photographer with her 110 Instamatic. A graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography, Jodye specializes in family and pregnancy portraits, bat/bar mitzvahs and weddings.

Denice Duff ( Denice studied photography at the TISCH School of the Arts at NYU. An award-winning director and photographer, she has shot magazine covers, hundreds of musicians and actors (Jenna Elfman, Sean Hayes, John Waite and Chick Corea among them). After many years in Hollywood, she is still in love with her job.

Rena Durham ( Rena has built a solid reputation in the entertainment industry as a teen celebrity photographer, and loves working with kids of all ages. She has also worked in video games, commercials and films. She is a veteran L.A. Parent cover photographer, whose celebrity covers include Leigh-Allyn Baker and RJ Mitte.

Zeke Ruelas ( Raised among the California palm trees, Zeke grew up reading Archie comics, is a dog lover and would like to make Halloween an official holiday. Zeke has photographed some beautiful covers for L.A. Parent, including covers featuring Mark Steines and his sons, and Mario Lopez and his family.

We hope you and your family will come out to meet Jodye, Denice, Rena and Zeke – and the L.A. Parent staff. For information on entering the Shooting Stars Cover Kids Contest, click here.
