Families can find out about the marine animals that U.S. officials have designated as being endangered. One of these endangered creatures is the white abalone, and you can see a live one at the Aquatic Nursery, which is conducting a special program to increase the white abalone population in the ocean. You can also enjoy a scavenger hunt, listen to a special story time and take a guided beach walk.
For more information, please call 310-548-7562.
For Endangered Species Day, the CMA will help you to learn more about marine animals on the U.S.’s endangered species list. You can even see one endangered species, the white abalone, in the Aquarium’s Aquatic Nursery. There will also be a special scavenger hunt and special storytime. From 10 a.m.-noon, you can also go on a CMA Educator-guided Walk Cabrillo hike around the aquarium’s grounds and check out fossils, native plants, beach wrack and other interesting discoveries you can find in the native garden, salt marsh, beaches and tidepools.
