For the third consecutive year, this week-long urban mural festival celebrates Long Beach’s cultural scene, from hip hop heritage to boundary-pushing museum exhibitions and performing arts. Participating artists, including Kevin Lyons, Mike Giant, Tatiana Suarez, Niels Shoe Meulman, Nosego, TRAV MSK, and Adele Renault as well as Long Beach hometown heroes like The Draculas, Bodeck Hernandez, Nate Frizzell and Ryan Milner, will be making art accessible to the community free of charge. There will be family friendly events to including art talks, art battles and pop up shops. On July 16 (6-8 p.m.), the Pow! Wow! pop-up shop at MADE by Millworks (240 Pine Ave.) celebrates opening day with music food, and drinks. The Varden Hotel’s parking lot (335 Pacific Ave.) is the site July 17 for the Pow! Wow! preview at 9:30 a.m. with Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and Pow! Wow! founder Jasper Wong. Jeff Staple will discuss the career and work with artist Adele Renault on July 18 (6-8 p.m.) at Art Theatre (2025 E. 4th St.). Popular street artist Tatiana Suarez will discuss her career with arts journalist Sarah Bennett at MoLAA (628 Alamitos Ave.) on July 19 (6-8 p.m.). Tickets for each event cost $5 and can be purchased online. On July 20 (5:30-9:30 p.m.) the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau presents “Party at The Cove,” an all-ages event with food, music and other activities. An “Art Battle,” hosted by Mike Giant will happen July 22 (10 a.m.-8 p.m.) at the Varden Hotel (335 Pacific Ave.) featuring live art, DJs, and refreshments.
