Among March’s many holidays is National Pancake Day. It might not be the best known March holiday, but IHOP restaurants make it a special occasion for several reasons. On National Pancake Day, which this year is March 8, the popular restaurant chain offers customers a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. But IHOP is doing more than just dishing out free food. The promotion also helps raise awareness and funds for a number of national and local charities.
Here is how it works: You go to your local IHOP between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. March 8, dig into your free short stack of buttermilk pancakes, and in return for the treat, you make a charitable donation.
Over the past decade, IHOP has raised $20 million for charities such as Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospital for Children. Last year, the chain collected $3.5 million. For complete details, visit www.ihoppancakeday.com.
