Tucked away off of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Theatricum Botanicum is a bucolic oasis of artistic endeavors. Founded by actor Will Geer in the 1970s, it is home to fun summer activities including a repertory theater company, concerts, numerous classes and camps and, of particular interest for the L.A. Parent crowd, Family Fundays.

For more than 20 years, Family Fundays has showcased children’s theater and music. The longstanding tradition continues this season with Creative PlayGround theater productions and Kids Koncerts music shows.

June is packed with Creative PlayGround favorites:

  • June 7: Aesop’s Fables
  • June 14: Ferdinand the Bull
  • June 21: The Legends of King Arthur
  • June 28: The Velveteen Rabbit.

The first Kids Koncert features Love Bug & Me July 12, with other shows featuring such local family music luminaries as Heidi Swedberg Aug. 2, Tom Freund Aug. 16, David Tobocman Aug. 30, Rhythm Child Sept. 20 and Kids Koncerts’ head honcho Peter Alsop Sept. 27.

The season wraps up in October with another round of Creative PlayGround performances, concluding with a Halloween Stories event. All shows are on Saturdays or Sundays, beginning at 11 a.m. To see the full schedule, visit www.theatricum.com/familyfundays.htm.
