In what has become a Southern California August tradition, The Getty (1200 Getty Center Dr., L.A.; www.getty.edu) will host a great trio of free family music concerts.

This year’s series of fun summer activities sets sail Aug. 1-2 with Jazzy Ash, celebrating the release of her new album, Bon Voyage. Although based in Orange County, Ash creates music infused with the spirit and sound of New Orleans. This musical gumbo comes naturally to Ash, as her mother hails from New Orleans and she spent many a summer there.

On the program’s second weekend (Aug. 8-9) is Lisa Loeb. Loeb, who also resides in Southern California, is well known for her adult and children’s music, and she plans to plays songs from both sides of her musical life.

Wrapping up the series Aug. 15-16 will be The Not-Its. This Seattle-based band has its roots in the rock music world (and you’ll win cool parent points if you wear your vintage Velocity Girl t-shirt). Over the past half-dozen years, the fun, upbeat Not-Its have been major players in the kindie scene with their catchy and clever tunes.

Shows are from 4-5:30 p.m.
