Going to the Hollywood Bowl (2301 N. Highland Ave., L.A.; www.hollywoodbowl.com) is always a special occasion, but this year there are some tasty treats for families among the fun summer activities.
At 8 p.m. Aug. 14-15, everyone will be asking: “What’s up, Doc?” For the 25th year, Warner Bros. presents its Bugs Bunny At The Symphony concert. Classic cartoons starring Bugs and his Looney Tunes pals will be projected on the big Bowl screen, with the orchestra performing the ebullient Carl Stalling score.
In September, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial will land at the Bowl for a three-night engagement (8 p.m. Sept. 4-5, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6). The audience will experience the beloved Steven Spielberg movie in a new and exciting way as the L.A. Philharmonic plays John Williams’ Oscar-winning music.
The creative culinary minds at Patina have cooked up a delicious themed delicacy for each event. For the Bugs Bunny concert, Bowl-goers can nibble Bugs Bunny carrot cake, while an out-of-this-world chocolate “moon pie” with caramel dipping sauce will be available on the E.T. evenings.
Tickets are $13-$177.
