Green Beginning Community Preschool in L.A. is a recipient of Green America’s “People & Planet Award,” which recognizes innovative small businesses that deeply integrate environmental and social considerations into their strategies and operations. The award comes with a $5,000 prize.
Green America is a green economy organization that provides economic strategies, organizing power and practical tools for businesses and individuals to solve social and environmental problems.
This round of the quarterly award focused on small green businesses that specialize in products or services for raising “green kids.” The L.A. preschool incorporates an environmental curriculum for toddlers, including gardening, composting and recycling. The school’s environment and programs are designed to foster environmental consciousness during the critical preschool years.
“The entire staff and families at Green Beginning Community Preschool would like to thank Green America for giving us a platform to foster green practices and sustainability,” said Veronica Cabello, executive director and founder of the preschool. “We would like to inspire others to advocate and educate children and families in developing awareness if the impact we have on our world.”
