Sometimes, what’s old can be made new again. This summer, the La Brea Tar Pits (www.tarpits.org) has premiered a new attraction that looks back to the ancient past. Titans of the Ice Age: The La Brea Story in 3D uses modern technology to take a look at Pleistocene era. Through state-of-the-art CGI animation, the movie brings to life this long-extinct world with splendid images from timeless places including Yellowstone National Park, Alaska and the Rocky Mountains captured through ultra-high-def digital cameras. The Tar Pits and museum paleontologists also are featured in the movie, which is narrated by Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer.

Titans of the Ice Age will be screened in a new 3D theater, one of several upgrades visitors will notice inside and outside the museum. The 22-minute movie will be shown every 30 minutes from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, for an additional fee.
