The Children’s Recording Arts Alliance has once again organized a benefit concert showcasing all five acts nominated for a GRAMMY award for Best Children’s Album this year. Brady Rymer, The Pop Ups, The Okee Dokee Brothers and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will perform tunes from their honored albums, while the fifth nominee, Neela Vaswani, will read a selection from the audio book I Am Malala.
The concert, much anticipated among Los Angeles events, takes place at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Musicians Institute Concert Hall, 6752 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood.
L.A. Parent and the National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) will be the presenting sponsors for this show, which is appropriate since three of the four musical acts also are NAPPA award winners. Brady Rymer won NAPPA Gold for his heartfelt record Just Say Hi!, while the Okee Dokees garnered a gold for their latest rootsy musical journey Through The Woods. The Pop Ups’ Appetite For Construction earned them a NAPPA Silver award.
Proceeds from this year’s concert, which will also include an appearance from SiriusXM Kids Place Live hosts Kenny and Mindy, will benefit Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit group that has provided more than 325,000 children in U.S. schools with music classes and instruments at no cost to the students, teachers or school districts.
Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door; www.brownpapertickets.com.
