Kidsave had their first mission in the summer of 1999. The organization sent 177 older children from orphanages on summer vacations with American families. As a result, 97 percent of those children were adopted.
On June 13, Kidsave will continue funding its work through its 15th Annual Miracles Gala at Vibiana, 214 South Main St. in downtown Los Angeles.
For 16 years Kidsave has helped more than 16,000 orphaned children around the world find parents and life-long mentors.
Comedian Owen Benjamin will host the event, and the Sara Gazarek Band will provide musical entertainment.
There will also be both a live auction and a silent auction. Grae Drake from Rotten Tomatoes will host the live auction.
Honored at the event will be, actress Erika Christensen, actress Evan Rachel Wood, actor Sam Jaeger and producer Karey Burke.
Dinner will be served during the program and awards portion and Gala goers are encouraged to arrive in cocktail attire. All proceeds from this event will go towards helping support the Kidsave program.
Amber Crisci, a representative of Kidsave, says the program is near and dear to her heart.
“In the US, there are thousands of foster care youth waiting to be adopted,” she says. “Many are older and with each passing year, they are less likely to be adopted, and more likely to “age out” of the foster care system without the support of a caring, responsible adult.”
“Kidsave is a nonprofit seeking to give families and lifelong connections to 1 million orphans around the world. This is the work of Kidsave – to create change – so forgotten orphanage and foster kids become known and connected to families and caring adults,” said Crisci.
