What happens when the imaginative folks at Cirque du Soleil team with innovative filmmaker James Cameron? You get “TORUK – The First Flight.” In this magical production, audiences will travel to Pandora, the world featured in Cameron’s blockbuster film “Avatar.”
As one would expect from a Cirque show, “TORUK” presents a dazzling mix of state-of-the art technology and amazing human athleticism. It also uses unique puppetry, cutting-edge stagecraft and elaborate set design to immerse audiences in its mythical adventure. Set thousands of years before the start of the “Avatar” story, “TORUK” tells the tale of two boys embarking on a quest to save theirpeople’s sacred Tree of Souls. To say anything more would just the spoil the experience of seeing this unforgettable spectacle.
Hopefully, this “First Flight” is just the initial Cameron/Cirque du Soleil collaboration. The production will be at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario Nov. 2-6 and Staples Center Nov. 11-13. It’ll return to Los Angeles with shows at the Forum Jan. 12-15. For tickets and more information visit the show’s website at www.cirquedusoleil.com/toruk
