The L.A. Zoo Lights, which USA Today named one of the “Best Zoo Lights” of 2015, return to dazzle you this holiday season. Visitors can wander around an illuminated winter wonderland filled with sparkling snowflakes, twinkling tunnels and a musical light-and-water show. Because this is the zoo, there will be animals, but not like the ones you are accustomed to. There will be animated snakes, monkeys, elephants and other creatures, all lit up with thousands of lights. Families should plan on spending 60-90 minutes to enjoy this electrifying spectacular.
Things will also be a little more magical this holiday season at Descanso Gardens, which debuts its “Enchanted: Forest of Light” experience. Created by acclaimed lighting company Lightswitch, “Enchanted” will light up 10 locations around Descanso, including the Camellia Forest, the Oak Grove and the Japanese Garden. Guests can stroll the one-mile route and encounter these large-scale light installations, several of which will have interactive elements. You’ll be able to manipulate lights and sounds at the “Symphony of Oaks” and change the colors in the light sculpture “The Pool” by stepping on special pads.
These two experiences are sure to be a seasonal highlight for many families.
