What is more fun than a big, family-friendly music festival? A big, family-friendly music festival that is also a benefit! The first We Are LA Family Music Festival is just that type of concert, a day of great music for a great cause.
The musical lineup is a who’s who of Southern California’s children’s music scene. Rhythm Child, Ozokidz, Lisa Loeb, The Hollow Trees, Lucky Diaz and The Family Jam Band, David Tobocman and Heidi Swedberg are just some of the family music acts on the bill. Rachel Patten, Cimorelli and comedian/magician Justin Williams (of “Cupcake Wars” fame) and DJ Flula are also scheduled to perform.
Attendees can also play sports, climb a rock wall or learn to play an instrument. There will be animals to encounter and an art bus to explore.
Despite all of the fun, the concert has a very important purpose because it is raising funds and awareness for seven L.A. children’s charities: 826LA, Amer-I-Can, CASA of Los Angeles, Happy Trails for Kids, Junior Achievement of Southern California, Richstone Family Center and the LA Galaxy Foundation.
Tickets are $20-$110. For more information on the We Are L.A. Family Music Festival, which takes place beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 17 at StubHub Center (18400 Avalon Blvd., Carson), visit www.wearela.org.
