Following an international search, Mark McKee has been unanimously selected by the board of trustees as the new Head of School at Viewpoint School in Calabasas. McKee began his journey in education at Polytechnic School in Pasadena, serving as an English teacher, Director of Technology and Director of Summer School. He also served as the Head of Upper School at Chase Collegiate School and currently holds a position as the Head of School at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School in San Mateo. McKee brings 20 years of educational leadership experience to Viewpoint and will start his new position July 1. McKee, his wife, Cathy Shelburne, and their two daughters will be moving to Calabasas.

“From the time I first walked Viewpoint’s campus, I felt drawn to the culture of the school – to its dedication to children and young people, its culture of excellence and professionalism and its clear sense of caring and purpose. I found in Viewpoint a true community,” say McKee. “My work in school leadership has been about serving students and teachers in the name of transformational growth.” McKee is a graduate of Harvard College and completed a Master’s program and further graduate study in English at U.C. Irvine. He is currently completing his Ed. D. dissertation for a doctorate in Education Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College.

Viewpoint school is an independent, coeducational, college prep day school with students K-12. Founded in 1961 on a 40-acre campus in Calabasas, Viewpoint is home to 1,200 students.
