Farm-to-table dining is now affordable and convenient for busy Los Angeles families. Mendocino Farms, founded by husband and wife team, Mario del Pero and Ellen Chen, offers organic, healthy and farm fresh sandwiches, entrée salads, soups and side salads using only the best locally sourced ingredients.
Chef Partner Judy Han has crafted a menu based on traditional sandwiches with modern twists like the Pork Belly Banh Mi, the “Not So Fried” Chicken and for those in serious need of comfort, the Ham & Gruyere Grilled Cheese. Vegan and gluten free options are also available.
The kids’ menu is a great value with a wide variety of grilled sandwiches like locally sourced PB&J, salami and provolone and turkey with cheddar, all served on wheat quinoa bread (my picky eater didn’t even notice a difference). Each kids’ meal comes with a drink and a side for just $4.95. Healthy sides include seasonal fruit, tomatoes or apples … you won’t find fries here.
The staff is super friendly, offering samples of their side salads to indecisive customers to try before they buy (Insider tip: the curried couscous with cauliflower and carrots is amazing!), and the dining space is airy and inviting with large signs, inspiring words on the walls and quirky décor. All locations get an A+ for fun with a designated community chalkboard area for coloring; and in some locations, a game of foosball or cornhole might be in order.
