Since it opened in 2016, throngs have flocked to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood to walk the streets of Hogsmeade, checking out the wands at Ollivanders, imbibing Butterbeer and taking a spin (or two) on the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride up at Hogwarts Castle.
This summer, the park is brightening visitors’ evenings with “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle,” an electrifying light-projection experience. Shown against the backdrop of Hogwarts Castle, it will illuminate the four houses of Hogwarts – Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin – and shoot light beams into the evening sky. Academy Award-winning composer John Williams has created a new musical arrangement, based on his original scores, to accompany the light show, which will occur several times a night.
Visitors who enjoy the sparkle should come back around Christmas time when the park debuts its first holiday-themed program. “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will light up Hogwarts throughout the night with colorful projections that feature impressive dimensional animation. The Hogsmeade shops will be dressed in holiday decorations and holiday-themed food and beverages will be available.
