You may be familiar with sitting on the sidelines during your child’s sports classes, but one gym is hoping to get parents back in the game. North American Athletic Club (NAAC) opened in December 2016 in Northridge and was designed by working families, for working families. NAAC offers a place where parents and their children can get fit at the same time at the same location.

The founders, Theodore Theodosiadis and Alesksandar Cvetanoski, are both married with children. They, along with their spouses, Stephanie and Marija, found it difficult to juggle busy work schedules with their desire to lead healthy lives. So, they decided to create an environment where busy families can spend time together in an environment that promotes healthy living and family unity.

“We wanted to create a family-friendly place, where parents can exercise on their own or receive custom-tailored personal training, while their child/ren exercise and learn discipline through taekwondo,” says Theodosiadis.

“We hope to build an environment which fosters unity and bolsters the community. We believe that family bonds grow stronger when the family, as a unit, strives in a single direction with a common purpose. And we believe that we provide an atmosphere which makes that a reality,” says Cvetanoski, who has been a personal trainer to several clients and has worked hands-on with kids with special needs.

NAAC offers Tae Kwon Do for people of all ages, self-defense classes, Yoga, CrossFit, and basic gym amenities. Members enjoy full access to the gym. NAAC also offers individualized personal training for an additional fee.

There are discounted family plans for parents that want to work out while their kids enjoy Tae Kwon Do. The goal at NAAC is that the need to drop off the kids at daycare or hire a babysitter is eliminated when it comes to staying fit. The aim is for kids to learn discipline and martial arts, while parents use the gym’s other amenities.

NAAC is located on Reseda Blvd. just south of Nordhoff at 8935 Reseda Blvd, Northridge, CA 91324. Their class schedule is below:

  • Tae Kwon Do is offered on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 4, 5, and 6pm, and Sunday at 12n and 1pm.
  • Self-Defense classes are offered on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.
  • Crossfit is offered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the day.
  • Yoga is offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Your first class is always free, and uniforms are included for Tae Kwon Do. For more information and how to register for classes, visit their website at www.naacfit.com or call them at 818-678-9640.

  1. My kids absolutely LOVE this place! And it is nice to workout while they take classes. The best part is we get done with our stuff and meet Daddy for dinner and the kids automatically pick healthy choices after their class!

  2. We just started our second month of Tae Kwon Do classes for our 9 & 5 year old boys. We take them to classes 4 times a week and they absolutely love it. The instructors are great with the kids. My husband and I couldn’t be happier with NAAC.

  3. I am taking the self defense classes and they are amazing. Not only they help me physically to become stronger and better my conditioning, but also I became more confident and disciplined.

  4. Love this place!! It’s quaint and not intimidating like other gyms. Best personal training I’ve ever had!!
