Many SoCal residents who view it as a great nearby getaway breathed a sigh of relief when Ojai was saved from the Thomas fire. While the quaint downtown was spared, many locals lost their homes and businesses in blazes that scorched nearly 282,000 acres in Ojai and beyond.

The community continues to welcome visitors back to their beautiful valley, and the hotels of Ojai have banded together to raise funds for those who were impacted with the Ojai Love campaign, now through March 31. By booking the Ojai Love package at any participating hotel, visitors receive a 10 percent discount off the best available rate and discounted access to restaurants, shops and activities. Plus, a $10 donation per night will be made in your name.  To date, the campaign has sold 883 hotel room nights and raised over $11,000.

The start of spring also marks the return of the Ojai Pixie, the petite, sweet, and seedless tangerine native to the area. Pixie season is from March through May and visitors can look forward to enjoying these sweet treats all around town, or pick up some fresh produce to take home from Friend’s Ranch, Ojai’s premier produce farm and packinghouse.

Ojai hotels usher in the spring season with Pixie-themed promotions, with several offering special packages through April. Sister properties Su Nido Inn, a Mission Revival-style inn, and  Casa Ojai Inn, nestled near Los Padres National Forest, offer guests 20 percent off rooms and suites and include two complimentary “o-hi” Pixie caps in their own ode to the season.

Additionally, the AAA Five-Diamond-award-winning Southern California luxury resort, Ojai Valley Inn, offers its Spring Pixies 2018 Package including a Pixie welcome amenity, breakfast for two at The Oak (up to $60 value for two guests), two Pixie-inspired cocktails, and one 50-minute Pixie Body Polish at Spa Ojai, available from March 23–May 31. Sister inns Emerald Iguana Inn and Blue Iguana Inn offer guests the Spring Staycation Package inclusive of two-for-one wine tastings at Casa Barranca, 50 percent dining credit at Nocciola, 10 percent off room rate, bottle of Ojai Vineyard wine, two commemorative Iguana glasses and box of gourmet chocolate.

Ojai restaurants celebrate the spring season with an array of menu options that showcase the region’s fresh produce and recipes inspired by Ojai’s distinctive climate and culture.

Ojai offers a range of activities including cycling tours with The MOB Shop; all-inclusive rock climbing adventures with Ojai Rock Climbing; yoga and dance classes from Hamsa Studio; and picturesque trail rides with Ojai Trail Riding Company. At sunset, visitors can also take in Ojai’s magical “Pink Moment,” during which the fading sunlight creates a brilliant shade of pink for several minutes on the Topatopa Bluffs.

Several retailers also run spring promotions that give back. Jeweler Susan Cummings created a special medallion in recognition of the brave people who selflessly helped others during the Thomas Fire, donating all proceeds to Ojai relief funds. Ojai Clothing’s  Ojai Raptor and Topa Topa Ojai t-shirts are designed to heighten awareness about and preserve Ojai’s open spaces, with 2 percent of sales donated to the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy.
