Mendocino Farms, Southern California’s sandwich destination with a mission of helping guests “Eat Happy,” opened its 11th restaurant, at 840 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Ste. 100, El Segundo, Sept. 5. Mendocino Farms features a dynamic chef-driven menu that changes with the seasons and offers guests a high-quality dining option at affordable prices in a warm, kid-friendly environment.
A true neighborhood gathering place, the family-friendly space has a warm, spacious atmosphere with indoor and patio seating available. Unique to this location, Mendocino Farms at The Point features unique, kid-friendly touches like a “Mendo Garden” with an educational wall that informs kids about farming and where food comes from, a whimsical metallic wall with magnetic letters, a chalkboard, a kid-size dining counter, along with a foosball table for kids and adults alike to enjoy.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. daily.
Devoted to partnering with local farms and food artisans to create inspired menu offerings, the culinary team approaches the quintessential American favorite—the sandwich—in two ways: by reconstructing fine dining entrees at the sandwich level, and by reinterpreting the classics with a modern twist.
Sandwich favorites and signature menu items include the Pork Belly Banh Mi, a play on the Vietnamese classic made with rich, caramelized Kurobuta Pork Belly, bright pickled daikon and carrots and spicy fresh jalapeño on toasted ciabatta; the Not So Fried Chicken, a lighter version of a cold fried chicken sandwich with shaved free range chicken breast, Mendo’s krispies, herb aioli and mustard pickle slaw served with a side of house made barbeque sauce; and the Kale Caesar, a healthier version of the classic featuring Scarborough Farms butter lettuce and romaine, crispy wheatberries and kale massaged with a light lemon parmesan vinaigrette. Younger Mendo fans choose from kids menu items such as PB&J with house-made peanut butter and Strawberry Rhubarb Jam from Coldwater Canyon Provisions, served with a side of fresh fruit and a drink.
Mendocino Farms at The Point features a new Late Summer/Early Fall 2015 menu of seasonal sandwich specials including the Local Organic Heirloom TBL with Tutti Frutti Farms’ local organic heirloom tomatoes, Sir Kensington’s famous (non-GMO) mayonnaise, applewood smoked bacon and baby arugula on toasted buckwheat bread; the Smoked Chicken and Street Corn Torta with house smoked free range chicken breast, grilled Brentwood-Delta corn and Cotija cheese spread, grilled poblanos and onions, candied Fresno chilies on a panini-pressed torta bun; and the Enlightened Falafel Wrap with a house made falafel-spiced seven veggie patty, Mendo’s classic hummus, vegan tzatziki, grape tomatoes and pickled red onions on a panini-pressed whole wheat tortilla.
Additional seasonal soup and deli salad specials rotate weekly and include offerings such as a Spicy Dijon Potato Salad, the Drake Farm’s Feta with Basil Pesto Shells, and Curried Couscous with Roasted Life’s A Choke Farm’s Cauliflower & Carrots. The entire menu and seasonal specials can be found online at mendocinofarms.com and through social media channels.
