Saint Sebastian School Launches Dual Language Immersion Program

By Scott Higdon

school news - Saint SebastianSaint Sebastian School, a private Catholic preschool, elementary and middle school in West Los Angeles, began its new Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion Program Aug. 24. The program features half the day’s learning in Spanish, the other half in English. Students in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten will learn to not only read and write but think in in both languages. The dual language program is only the second of its kind in a Catholic School in California.

As dual language programs have risen in popularity, the results demonstrate a continued pattern of success:
• Students gain grade level academic ability, well-developed language and literacy skills in two languages.
• Dual language learning programs have proven to close the achievement gap between English learners and native English speakers.
• Students develop greater cross-cultural competency and understanding.

The need for future leaders who are not only bilingual but biliterate is high, not only in Los Angeles but throughout the country. There are limited spots available for admission into the program for next year in TK, K and 1st Grade. Visit for more information.
