PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City will host a ceremonial “first bowl” to break the ribbon on a $250,000 revamp of its 32 lanes, and launch a new “Bowling Birthdays Are Best!” program to raise charitable contributions to benefit kids and families in the San Fernando Valley.
The festivities, kicking off at 3 p.m. Aug. 5, will include civic and community leaders, Los Angeles police officers and firefighters, and an appearance by a President Obama impersonator. The party, which is open to the public, will include refreshments and the chance for visitors to win free bowling, PINZ merchandise and gift cards and Dodgers tickets. General Manager Scott Frager says the new lanes “feature the very latest technology, allowing bowlers of all levels the opportunity to show their stuff.”
Proceeds from raffle tickets available for purchase at the event will benefit LA Family Housing (LAFH), which helps families transition out of homelessness and poverty by providing housing and supportive services and helps more than 3,500 people each year. “Drawings for prizes will take place throughout the afternoon,” says Frager.
PINZ will also host a free birthday party for children served by LAFH who have birthdays in August, with the inaugural event taking place immediately following the lane dedication.
