Welcome Back, Books and Cookies!

By Erin Epstein

Books and Cookies frontGrab your reading glasses and your sweet tooth because Books and Cookies has moved! Now located at 2309 Main St. in Santa Monica, Books and Cookies will continue to welcome families and be an active part of the community while promoting the joy of literacy.

After closing their flagship location at the end of March, Books and Cookies is working hard to recreate a place where families can come and read together, laughing, educating and building bonds through literature at their new location. The new space will offer affordable snacks and activities that foster learning, such as story times and art and music classes.

The new location features an indoor/outdoor play area, where kids will have the opportunity to build critical thinking, motor and sensory skills in a safe area. With 600 shaded square feet outside and 200 square feet inside, the space will give children a chance to read books in a teepee, dance with bubbles, splash in the water table, or climb a play structure.

Books and Cookies outsideThe new Books and Cookies will also host children’s birthday parties on weekends. Parties will feature decorations, crafts, goody bags, story time and sign-along based on the child’s favorite books.

Books and Cookies has also pledged to be a positive force in the community by holding ongoing book and diaper drives, and by bringing storytelling to underprivileged youth at Children’s Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides healing so traumatized children can recover and lead healthy lives, and at local hospitals.
