The Jimenez Family of Bell has been selected as the Ambassador Family for the 2018 March of Dimes Los Angeles March for Babies. One of the largest annual fundraising walks in Los Angeles, March for Babies will bring together an estimated 15,000 people to raise critical funds to help tackle the biggest health threats to moms and babies.
Evelia and Hector Jimenez first became involved with March for Babies after the death of their daughter, Natalie, who was born 14 weeks early. Every year since then, Evelia and Hector have marched to remember and celebrate Natalie and raise money so more babies have the opportunity to thrive, grow-up and reach their full potential.
“We are honored to serve as the 2018 Los Angeles March for Babies Ambassador Family,” said Evelia Jimenez. “To this day, I believe that my healing began during my first March for Babies when I saw so many families who had similar stories to ours. I find it tremendously gratifying that Natalie’s memory lives on and that the money we raise to support the groundbreaking work of the March of Dimes helps other families avoid a loss like we experienced.”
“We are grateful to have the support and dedication of the Jimenez Family who have participated in March for Babies for more than 10 years and have raised more than $45,000 to improve the health of all moms and babies,” says Kari Boatner, Greater Los Angeles March of Dimes executive director. “March for Babies is a day for everyone. Together we hope for the day when all moms and babies are healthy. We remember those babies we lost. And we celebrate every baby.”
March of Dimes works to give 4 million babies born each year the best possible start. Nearly half a million of them, like Natalie, are born prematurely or with birth defects. Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S. and pregnancy-related death has more than doubled over the past 25 years. From advocacy to education to research, March of Dimes works to level the playing field so that all moms and babies are healthy. March for Babies is the largest annual fundraising event of March of Dimes. The goal of the 2018 Los Angeles March for Babies campaign is to raise $1,500,000.
Los Angeles March for Babies takes place Saturday, April 28th at Exposition Park. On-site registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the three-mile walk kicking off at 8:30 a.m. Start a team with your company, family or friends.
