October is an exciting time in L.A., with fall festivals, pumpkin patches, Dia de Los Muertos events and, of course, Halloween! If your kids aren’t quite ready for Los Angeles Haunted Hayride or Knott’s Scary Farm, we’ve got you covered with over 50 kid-friendly Halloween events in L.A. that have just the right amount of spooky fun.
1. Hallowe’en Spooktacular

For the 2025 rendition of “Hallowe’en Spooktacular,” Bob Baker Marionette Theater is incorporating both a special Día de los Muertos sequence to reflect the culture of their community and including a sneak peek for its upcoming first new show in 40 years, “Choo Choo Revue. ”
The show will also feature new puppets—a family of Bats from Choo Choo Revue! As a sneak preview to the upcoming show (debuting in 2026), “Hallowe’en Spooktacular” audiences will get to watch these new creations join in the spooky fun and demonstrate all the innovations and imagination that Choo Choo Revue will entail. 2. Halloween at Kidspace

3. Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns

Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns, the family-friendly Halloween event formerly at Whittier Narrows, returns to Los Angeles this fall at its new location, South Coast Botanic Garden. The immersive, mile-long trail features over 10,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns, enchanting light displays, and a variety of activities for all ages, including playful bouncy pads. 4. Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest

Thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts are invited to immerse themselves in the pulse-pounding excitement and terror that only Fright Fest can deliver with new and enhanced haunted mazes, new scare zones, a brand-new show and plenty of frights
Fright Fest runs from 7 p.m. – 12 a.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, and 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Fright Fest is not recommended for children 12 and under. More info.
5. Knott’s Spooky Farm

At Knott’s Spooky Farm, guests can experience a range of Halloween-themed activities, including trick-or-treating, a lineup of original shows, costume contests and pumpkin decorating. Kids can participate in a memorable trick-or-treating experience in the spooky streets of Ghost Town where they will show off their festive Halloween costumes as they collect their tasty treats. Guests can also visit the livery stable to get close and personal with spiders, bugs and more at the Creepy Critters Corral in Calico.
In Calico Park, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and their friends will host a slew of spook-tivities including games, music, storytelling and more. The Bob Baker Marionette Theatre Show returns with a spooky puppet show that will have little ones and adults entertained at Birdcage Theatre.
At Calico Mine Stage don’t miss Snoopy’s Spooktacular Costume Party where ghouls of all ages are encouraged to strut their stuff and show off their Halloween costumes. 6. Tricks and Treats

Have a howling good time at Magic Mountain with Tricks and Treats, an all-new, family-friendly daytime Halloween event full of mischievous tricks, tasty treats and bewitching entertainment. This kid-friendly celebration takes place before the sun sets and the scares set up — it’s all fun, no fear during the daytime at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Little ghouls can visit Bugs Bunny World to walk around the Trick-or-Treat Trail where they can grab the most sought-after goods of the season— candy! In this area guests can also meet and greet with their favorite Looney Tunes characters all dressed up to celebrate the season along with them.

7. Night of the Jack

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch has been a beloved Los Angeles tradition since 1987, bringing the magic of fall to families across the city. This year’s Trick or Treat Village will transform neighborhood parks into free festive Halloween events featuring game booths, live music, costume contests, raffles, arts and crafts, pumpkin carving, and plenty of free candy and snacks. Big Fish Little Fish presents the OG Family Rave where parents and kids join together on the dance floor to dance to real EDM played by local house DJs. The family-friendly rave is open to all ages, but activities are designed with 0-8 year olds in mind.
In addition to house music, there will be a multi-sensory dance floor, crafting area, baby chill area, full bar and food. The optional dress up theme is Halloween. More info.

47. Spooky Halloween Flower Arranging Workshop

Join Viola Floral Studio for an evening inspired by fall’s darker beauty. At this beginner level workshop for all ages, design a small flower arrangement with black calla lilies, orange dahlias and ranunculus, and seasonal foliage, creating an arrangement that feel both haunting and refined. Think candlelight, deep tones, and florals that whisper of mystery. Space is limited for this one-night event. And you’ll eat lots of candy, of course! 52. Halloween Spooktacular: Trick-or-Treating & Family Pics

Halloween night has returned to Old Pasadena! Dress up in your most creative costumes, and head over to One Colorado for some sweet store-to-store Trick-or-Treating. Discover a variety of delicious treats and surprises at every turn, where our shops and restaurants are handing out Halloween goodies for the little ones (first-come, first-served).
Once the candy bag is brimming, pose for a family portrait* in our Halloween-themed photo area, snapped by our photographer extraordinaire. Photos conclude at 8 p.m.; the line will be adjusted accordingly.
