The 24th Santa Monica Festival (www.smgov.net/festival), coming to Clover Park May 9, serves up an innovative array of activities, performances and demonstrations that reflect life in its city the way few Los Angeles events can. From 11 a.m.-6 p.m. the free community event, with a theme of “Connect, Create And Celebrate,” lets families learn to live in a more Earth-friendly manner in the Eco Zone, exercise at the Active Stage, get cooking ideas at the Culinary Stage and discover regional artisans in the Marketplace.
There will also be a lineup of talented local musicians and dancers, hands-on art workshops and food trucks to quench your appetite. If you leave your car at home and pedal over to the park (2600 Ocean Park Blvd.), you can use the festival’s free bike valet, and even get your bike repaired.
