Art Advocates, Unite!

By Erin Epstein

artsforlaCalling all art enthusiasts! Arts for LA has launched ACTIVATE, a new arts education advocacy leadership initiative.

The goal of ACTIVATE is to improve opportunities for students. This free program is open to anyone in the Los Angeles area: parents, teachers, community advocates and others who want to make a difference in education.

Arts for LA is looking for people to train as arts advocates. Participants will connect with other advocates across Los Angeles County and receive individual coaching designed to help them develop a spring arts education initiative in their community. Dynamic speakers will lead five empowering sessions:

  • Qualities of a Successful Art Education Program
  • Education Policy and Decision-Making: Trends, Laws, and Initiatives
  • Understanding Data and Mapping Resources in Your Community
  • Exercising Leadership
  • Communication Strategies and Taking Action!

The deadline to apply for the ACTIVATE initiative is September 12.
