San Gabriel Valley’s biggest Open Streets event will connect the cities of South Pasadena, Alhambra, and San Gabriel like never before as it provides the first-time opportunity to walk, bike, run, skate, scoot, dance and play on over 5 miles of car-free streets linking the historic San Gabriel and South Pasadena Mission Districts via downtown Alhambra. The free, family-friendly event will also connect directly to the South Pasadena Gold Line Station, providing participants an easy way to get to the event via Metro Rail. The festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. with the 626 Run, a family-friendly 5K Fun Run. RSVP is required at www.run626.com ($45 but free for ages 17 and younger). The official Opening Ceremony, featuring Gabe the Sasquatch, a free raffle, and entertainment, will occur at 8:40 a.m. by the South Pasadena Gold Line Station. Activity zones in each participating community will host such activities as live music, cultural performances, family-friendly games and activities, kids play zones, arts activities, vendors, and an electric car test ride area.
