Since 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has raised vital funds and built support and awareness of the continuing need to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This year’s theme “AIDS Has Met Its March,” which calls upon participants to continue the fight to make AIDS history. The morning kicks off with an aerobic warm-up, followed by opening ceremonies featuring celebrities, musical performances, and HIV/AIDS activists and leaders. A post-walk celebration congratulates walkers, volunteers and supporters. The walk, which starts and ends at the steps of L.A. City Hall, is between 4.8-6.1 miles long and and should take between 1.5– 2 hours to complete (please keep the length in mind regarding having kids participate). While it is free to register, AIDS Walk LA suggests that people fund-raise at least $25.
