Celebrate the joyous tradition of Mexico’s most famous holiday with the 24th Street Theatre. Cumbia legend La Sonora Dinamita and master conguero/bandleader/vocalist Louie Crúz Beltran headline the entertainment happening on two stages. Other performers include dance folklórico from Sol de Fuego and members of the Tierra Blanca Arts Center; Aztec dance from Huitzilopochtli; music from Son Jarochicano Los Cambalache and Tommy SpaSe and the Alchemists; and stilt walking by La Calaca Guapachosa/skull dancer Ismael Ramírez. Special guest Raul Pacheco (from the band Ozomatli) and The Immaculate Conception will perform on 24th Street Theatre’s indoor stage. Enjoy homemade tamales, face painting, crafts booths, a 75-ft. ferris wheel, and a graveyard where families can make their own altars for their departed loved ones. The evening kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with a procession led by ceremonial dancers Los Chinelos. This year’s festival will more than double in size to encompass Hoover Street from 23rd to 25th Streets in addition to its original location on 24th Street between Hoover and Magnolia!
