Join LACMA and KCET for a virtual screening event and discussion following KCET’s Emmy ® award-winning arts and culture documentary series ARTBOUND presents standalone special, “Arts Education.” The online event will explore the value that arts education provides for all young people and communities as a foundation for an inclusive and economically vibrant society.
Developed in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, ARTBOUND: Arts Education features young poets from local organization Get Lit and professional artists that include Catherine Opie, Vijay Gupta, Hector Tobar, Debbie Allen, and Chloe Arnold sharing personal stories of how the arts have helped create a sense of belonging. The panel opens with LA County Museum of Art’s (LACMA) Chelo Montoya, Chief Creative Officer of KCET and PBS SoCal Juan Devis and LA County Department of Arts and Culture’s Kristin Sakoda. The panel will be moderated by Arlene Campa (LA Youth Poet Laureate) and will feature panelists Sophie Cruz (Human Rights Activist/Dancer/LACMA Painter/Workshops Participant), Vanessa Tahay (Get Lit Youth Poet), and JayLoni Fisher (Get Lit Youth Poet).
