9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. June 1-Dec. 31 (closed Nov. 22, Dec. 25). Discover how Los Angeles became Los Angeles. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) has reopened its permanent exhibition, Becoming Los Angeles, which explores L.A.’s rich history, along with the diverse groups of people that have made the city their home. The exhibit looks at L.A. over the course of five centuries, from its small pueblo roots to the booming metropolis it is today. Among its new features are visitors an expanded section on Indigenous Californians, fresh objects from NHMLA’s history and anthropology/archaeology collections, and more L.A.-inspired artworks that complement each historical section, as well as newly commissioned works by local artists. Additionally, more of the exhibition’s main content will now be in both English and Spanish.
