6th annual Bob Baker Day not only salutes the work and legacy of this local legend but serves up a free, fun-filled day of live music, crafts, games, and food trucks for the whole family to enjoy. With “The Ambassador of Americana,” Charles Phoenix, acting as the Grand Marshall, the LA State Historic Park will transformed into a wonderful, whimsical carnival for a day. Besides performances by the Bob Baker Marionettes, the celebration offers live entertainment by Yo Gabba Gabba’s DJ Lance Rock, Buster Balloon, Funny Eddie and guided puppetry with David Arquette. Live music will be provided by King Kukulele, American harmony duo Tiny & Mary, family folk band The Hollow Trees, Frank Fairfield, Snooknuk, Very Be Careful, and OKGO’s Tim Nordwind, who will do a special DJ set spinning archival BBMT vinyl selected from Bob Baker’s personal collection of rare and out-of-print records. The awesome day features pop-up face painting booths, puppetry workshops, and educational activities led by Southern California Children’s Museum and the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry. There will be artist-made BBMT-inspired creations, limited edition Bob Baker clothing by Big Bud Press and vintage clothing too. FYI, rain will cancel this event.
