The California Africian-American Museum hosts a joyous Juneteenth party, celebrating the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger declared that Texas’s enslaved people were free. Bring your picnic blankets and enjoy an afternoon at CAAM. Francesca Harding will provide DJ sets. The family activities include making quilted squares; creating your own family tree; constructing a West African diaspora-inspired ancestor mask and participating in a drum circle. Also, you can bring some clothes to use in a wearable art workshop.
