The California African American Museum not only honors the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. today, but also commemorates the Voting Rights Act’s 55th anniversary. Families can design your own peace medal, create a Words of Wisdom bookmark, and take part in a community Chain of Kindness. School-age children will present excerpts from Dr. King’s 1957 “Give Us the Ballot” speech from 2-3 p.m., while The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles performs a King-inspired set from 3-4 p.m.
