10 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 27-May 13. The first North American traveling exhibit for children inspired by Eric Carle’s art, this play-and-learn experience takes visitors into the pages of Carle’s colorful picture books. His classic “Very” series introduces five special insects who take journeys of discovery. Illustrated in Carle’s signature hand-painted tissue paper collage technique, each story reflects his love of nature, his respect for children’s emotional lives, and his recurring themes of friendship, creativity, and the power of imagination. Visitors can become the Very Hungry Caterpillar as they follow his path; weave a web with the Very Busy Spider; find their light with the Very Lonely Firefly; make the Very Clumsy Click Beetle flip and jump, and compose a night symphony with the Very Quiet Cricket. There is also the opportunity to create artwork using many of Eric Carle’s materials and techniques
