The challenge for working parents, especially working mothers, is the expectation to work as if they don’t have children and to parent as if they don’t work. Parents are often faced with the pressure of having to prove themselves to managers, teams and even to themselves. And meanwhile, at home, they are adjusting to significant additional responsibilities as a parent. This workshop will discuss why the idea of balance often puts more pressure on working parents, will provide steps on how to re-establish your boundaries and adjust to your new identity as a working parent and excel at both work and parenthood. The discussion will include “Reconciling Your Pre-Baby Professional Identity with your Working Parent Identity”; “Making work, work for you”; “Breadsharing vs. Breadwinning/Caretaker”; “Planning for the unexpected & handling child care challenges”; “Reducing Working Parent Guilt & adding yourself to the priority list” and Set intentional career/work goals as a parent.”
