Frank Stella was one of the titans in the American art scene in the second half of the 20th century. The ever-adventurous artist, Stella expanded the conventions of Abstract Expressionism while being a pioneer into minimalism. Experimenting with techniques and materials, he blurred the boundaries between sculpture and painting. This exhibit, which features works (some rarely seen) from LACMA’s own collection, provides a look at Stella’s stellar career.
