10 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 19-20. The Ford Theatres welcomes the public to this two-day extravaganza that honor the traditions of Mexican and native Mesoamerican cultures while also celebrating death as a natural phase in life’s continuum. Produced by LORE Media & Arts, the free daytime festival will have a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy, such as live music, craft projects, face painting and food, happening around the Ford’s entryway gardens and plaza spaces. On both nights, there will be an 8 p.m. concert featuring the Grammy Award-winning Mexican-American singer/songwriter Lila Downs, the Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, and Mariachi Femenil Flores Mexicanas (visit www.fordtheatres.org/calendar/Lila-Downs-Dia-de-Muertos-2019 for ticket information). Additionally, larger-than-life Mesoamerican-inspired sugar skulls and altar installation will decorate the Ford Theatres.
