Grand Park again hosts an extended free celebration in honor of Día de los Muertos centered around a large scale art installation that will be in the for nine days (Oct. 26-Nov. 3) with the annual Day of the Dead remembrance occurring Nov. 2. Grand Park’s festivities begin on Oct. 26 with the traditional Noche de Ofrenda ceremony that pays tribute to the dead and features a communal circle and blessing led by the indigenous community. This evening will hold the unveiling a master altar (that invites contributions from the entire community) as well as the official unveiling of Grand Park’s Día de los Muertos altars and art installations. Through Nov. 3, nearly 35 altars (curated by Self Help Graphics) and multiple Día-themed sculptures made by professional artists, craftspeople and community organizations (produced by Lore Media and Arts) will be displayed around the park. While the park is open during the day, it is recommended to view the altars and art installation in the evening and night.
