The museum’s annual summer celebration features Japanese and Japanese American music and dance, along with crafts (such as origami and the ever-popular Natsumatsuri paper hats, face painting and other family-friendly activities. There will be a Little Kokeshi Doll reading, demonstration, and interactive Kokeshi Fashion Show with author/illustrator Sunny Seki. Performances include Taiko drumming, folk music from Joyce Kwon, and a Memories On Their Backs dance theater performance by Voices Carry. Visitors can also take bon odori dance lessons and enjoy free samples of saataa andaagii (Okinawan deep-fried pastries) at this free festival.
