11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Fri., 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat.-Sun. Sept. 30-Jan. 6. This exhibit presents a 20-year survey of the Los Angeles-based mixed media artist. This solo presentation focuses on 20 large-scale collaged paintings made with found fabrics, mixed paint applications, and photo transfers to create rich, colorful landscapes. Each work expresses deep environmental concerns including both natural and man-made disasters. A group of smaller sculptures will accompany the paintings. Rooted in feminist art that grew out of her work with L.A.’s iconic Woman’s Building, Estes also is known for her involvement in the Pattern and Decoration movement of the ’70s and ’80s. CAFAM classifies this exhibit as suitable for all ages, but some parental discretion is suggested.
