Known for his giant canvases and large frescoes, Oscar Oiwa, an acclaimed Japanese who was born in Brazil and now lives in New York City. In our current dysfunctional world, he feels that people are reacting to our current dysfunctional world by searching our subconscious for nourishment and hoping for wisdom to better the face the chaos of our times. With this in mind, Oiwa has constructed an immersive installation – created specific for USC PAM – where visitors can enter his 360° dreamscape and transform the clenched fist of their hearts into open hands. This exhibition should be fine for all ages. Also on display are a selection of Oiwa’s large-scale paintings that compliment his surrealist and imaginative dreamscapes. Please note that shoes or booties are required to be off when entering the exhibition.
