Robert Rauschenberg was one of the leading American artists during 1950s-1970s, who helped to usher in the Pop Art Movement. While he is associated with the New York City art scene of that era, Southern California also played important roles in his career. It was while stationed at Camp Pendleton in the mid-40s that he decided to become an artist after his first trip to a museum. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Rauschenberg started a fruitful partnerships with the L.A. print workshops Gemini G.E.L. and Styria Studio. This LACMA exhibit presents a selection of significant works that Rauschenberg made in and about L.A.,
